Blue Ridge School is excited to introduce Angela Jackson-Mapetla as the new director of admissions and parent relations. She comes to BRS from St. Andrew’s, Turi, an international boarding school in Kenya, and Heritage International School in Uganda, an independent Christian school serving young children through high school.
Mrs. Jackson-Mapetla is a Virginia native with a bachelor’s degree from Radford University and an MBA from East Tennessee State University. She also has certifications in teaching English as a second language, life coaching, and DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). Mrs. Jackson-Mapetla worked for many years as a Christian missionary in Africa and in student services and advising at Longwood University in Virginia.
“Angela brings a wealth of personal and professional experience that will have an immediate positive impact on Blue Ridge School,” says Headmaster Trip Darrin. “Her energy and enthusiasm for bringing out the best in students—and her colleagues—will resonate with families of prospective students as they consider Blue Ridge School. Likewise, our current parents will quickly see the genuine care she has for their sons living and learning here on campus.”
As director of admissions, Mrs. Jackson-Mapetla will focus on international recruiting and parent relations while assisting Senior Director of Enrollment Jamie Miller (BRS ‘94) with domestic enrollment.
Mr. Miller adds, “We are delighted to have Angela join our team. We enroll students from around the world and her global experience is invaluable, not only in recruiting international students but also in communicating to domestic families how Blue Ridge School celebrates the many cultures of all of our students.”
Mrs. Jackson-Mapetla says, “My personal mission statement is to make a positive impact no matter where I go, adding value and worth to others while exemplifying the love and light of Christ all while having fun and being uniquely fashionable. I look forward to building and strengthening relationships with current and prospective families while adding my spark of enthuisasm to the Blue Ridge family.”
When she is not working, Mrs. Jackson-Mapetla enjoys participating in Toastmasters International, singing, and expressing her personality through fashion design.
