Fall Parent Weekend

Battle House at Blue Ridge School

The Parent Association has just concluded Fall Parent Weekend on October 20-23. Approximately sixty families attended the weekend, which was highlighted by the traditional cocktail reception for parents on Friday evening.  This was followed by a live auction and dinner with the students. New this year was the addition of a large tent in which all events took place: registration, the Baron gift store, the live and silent auctions, and all meals.

Another addition to the weekend was the inaugural Baron Backers Reception held at the historic Lafayette Inn in Stanardsville. The reception included a blind auction of two exclusive gifts. The gross revenue for these two items was $1,500 in addition to the ticket revenues for this event.

New this year as well was a successful online bidding system for the silent auction. Both live and silent auctions grossed over $13,000!

The Baron Store offered many new items such as canvas boat bags, dri-fit long sleeve T-shirts, license plate frames, fleece vests and much more on Parent Weekend.  These new items as well as other items are still available!  To view the online store, click here.

The Baron Backers, another new initiative geared to increase parent involvement, was also a huge success! Donations exceeded $5,000 from parents and family friends.

The Parent Council and Parent Association enjoyed productive meetings during the weekend, too.

All funds raised during the weekend will support and enhance the quality of life for the boys here at Blue Ridge. For example, the PA provides monthly birthday donuts for the students.  There are many additional ways, of course, in which you may participate through the PA to care for the boys throughout the year.

PA members are now turning their attention to the annual Shop With a Baron community service project coming up in December.
