Team Baron Promotions

Many Blue Ridge School faculty and staff are being recognized for their contributions to the school through promotions or new positions. 

John Hetzel is joining the Battle House team as assistant director of the Baron Fund. Following years of teaching English language learners students, John will use his relationships with many alumni and his knowledge of student experience to raise annual-budget-supporting funds. John will stay involved in the lives of students as he continues in his roles as head coach of JV lacrosse, assistant coach for indoor track, and a hall parent on Upper West.

Amber Wilkins has been promoted to assistant dean of faculty; she will continue as director of college counseling and director of social activities. As assistant dean of faculty, she will work closely with Dean of Faculty and Academics Pete Bonds on many projects, particularly measuring student outcomes and faculty recruitment and retention.

Jack Warren has been promoted to science department chair. He teaches biology and anatomy at Blue Ridge and is the head JV soccer coach and assistant coach for indoor soccer. As department chair, he will lead teaching assessment and development, as well as curriculum development and project-based learning initiatives. Jack recently completed his M.Ed. in Independent School Leadership from Vanderbilt University.

Alexander Keevil has been promoted to co-director of the Fishburne Learning Center. He will work in conjunction with director Wendy Evans. Alexander has been a learning specialist at Blue Ridge School for two years. He is also a hall parent on Middle North and assistant director of the drama program. Alexander is currently pursuing his Ed.D. in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University.

Cathy Boyd has been named chapel coordinator in addition to continuing in her role as director of the Baron Fund. As coordinator, she will lead chapel services, invite guest speakers, and serve as the students’ primary spiritual resource on campus. Cathy has an active history in the Episcopal Church, including her years as a student at St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock, Virginia.

Saraa Lkhagvasuren has been promoted to accounting manager. She has worked in the business office for two years and is currently participating in a two-year accounting certification program at the University of Virginia.

George Mackaronis has been named assistant director of social activities and residence life intern. He will continue to teach elective courses and be an assistant coach for varsity lacrosse and head coach of the winter outdoor program. As assistant director of social activities, he will work closely with Amber Wilkins to plan to implement a wide variety of programs that keep the students entertained and engaged. George is also a hall parent on Middle Boogher.
