Blue Ridge School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Tyler Houston as the new Director of the Baron Fund. With an extensive background in sales, recruitment, and educational leadership, Mr. Houston brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his new role.
Mr. Houston joins Blue Ridge School with his wife Mary Rose and daughter Maeve from Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he served as the Sr. Regional Director at True Lacrosse. In this role, he was instrumental in growing the customer base, expanding the network for future growth opportunities, and coordinating and retaining current business. Under his leadership, the program saw a 50% increase in total customers and a remarkable 300% price increase in his first 12 months. He also played a key role in the organization’s expansion into two new markets and contributed to generating over $1.2 million in revenue across Virginia.
Prior to his tenure at True Lacrosse, Mr. Houston was the 1st Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Mary Washington. He managed a recruiting database of over 3,000 student-athletes, showcasing his ability to build and maintain significant contact lists. In his time there he coached one All-American in his position group, as well as multiple All-Conference selections on the team. His coaching experience extends internationally, having served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Swiss National Lacrosse Team since 2016.
Mr. Houston’s background in education includes teaching positions at Fredericksburg Academy and Sayre School, where he demonstrated his versatility and commitment to student development. He holds a Master’s degree in Sports Management with a specialization in Athlete Development from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Art History from the University of Mary Washington.
As Director of the Baron Fund, Mr. Houston will focus on driving alumni donation participation and promoting confidence among major donors. He plans to achieve this by establishing class agents to help coordinate communication, expanding alumni gatherings across North America, and creatively rethinking ways to improve attendance at alumni events.
“The Blue Ridge School community is very excited to welcome Tyler and his family to campus,” said Franklin Daniels, Associate Head of School for External Affairs. “Tyler shares our deep commitment to all-boys and boarding, has enjoyed success in teaching, coaching, and non-profit business, and brings a style and spirit I believe our alumni and friends will genuinely enjoy. I am delighted he is with us.”
Mr. Houston expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I am honored to join Blue Ridge School and lead the Baron Fund. I am committed to fostering strong relationships with our alumni and supporters, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success of this esteemed institution.”
