On March 24, Blue Ridge School Headmaster Trip Darrin announced to parents that the campus would remain closed for the remainder of the academic year. The full statement to parents can be found on our COVID-19 information page.

The decision to extend the campus closure came following Virginia Governor Ralph Northam’s announcement on Monday, March 23rd, that he is requiring the closure of all K-12 schools in the Commonwealth through the end of the school year.

Despite the campus closure, Blue Ridge School continues educating its students through a comprehensive program including live video conferencing for all classes, Monday through Friday. The distance learning program meets the criteria for the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and the Virginia Council for Private Education assuring that students will receive academic credit for all classes they complete this year.

As this time, the administration and Board of Trustees is consideration alternate dates for Commencement. However, a new date has not yet been selected.

Blue Ridge School is on course to open the 2020-2021 school year on campus on September 1st.
