First Tech Challenge

On Saturday, December 2, 2017, the Blue Ridge School Robotics team participated in an outreach event for First Tech Challenge (FTC) at the Harrisonburg First Lego League (FLL) State Championship Competition.

The BRS team includes Aaron ODonnell, Harry Yu, Mike Han and Paul Du.

The First Tech Challenge is designed for students in grades 7–12 to compete head-to-head using a sports model. Teams are responsible for designing, building and programming their robots in a ten-week build period to compete in an alliance format against other teams.

FLL is a ‘starter’ league for FTC and First Robotics Competition (FRC).  The Baron Bots presented their robots, competed with their robots, helped other FTC teams with their programming and builds as well as answered questions from FLL participants, coaches and families.

“This was a great event, and our Roboteers really enjoyed sharing their knowledge with the up and coming techies,” says IT Director and Robotics Coach Wayne Peterson. He adds, “It was also a great way to interact and work with other FTC teams.  As the resident ‘experts,’ the Baron Bots team members were generous with their time and assistance.”
