Honor Council
The Greene County Women’s Club each year sponsors a county-wide campaign to purchase Christmas presents for needy children living within the county. For the past 39 years, members of the Blue Ridge School Honor Council have collected funds from the student body, faculty and staff to donate to this admirable cause. “These children are living in such poverty that they would likely not receive any gifts at all were it not for the efforts of the Women’s Club,” says Mr. Niederberger, who organizes this fundraiser. The Women’s Club first contacted the School back in 1978 to see if there would be interest in participating. Headmaster Hatcher Williams asked the members of the Honor Council to undertake the project. Mr. Niederberger and the Council have been doing it ever since. The Blue Ridge community has donated at least $1,000 in each of the past 39 years. If you’d like to give so that needy children living near the campus will have a merrier Christmas, please make your check payable to The Greene County Women’s Club. Checks may be made out to The Greene County Women’s Club or you can donate online here.
Shop With A Baron
Shop with a Baron (SWAB) was created by members of the Parent Association to give students another opportunity to serve the community by mentoring area children before Christmas. The students raise money to give local children a chance to shop for Christmas presents for their parents so that they can actively participate in the gift giving spirit of the season. Our students also pay for lunch for each child during the course of the day and help them wrap the gifts. To purchase a No Tie Day for your son, or to donate to SWAB, please click here.
