With great gratitude and admiration for her tireless service to Blue Ridge School students and families, BRS announces the departure of Krystle Gee, Director of Parent Relations and International Admissions, effective September 30.
Krystle’s impact on students, first as a Spanish teacher then as an admissions counselor, is difficult to overstate. She is known for her honest and deep affection for Blue Ridge students, especially those coming to the school from foreign countries. Krystle has worked with hundreds of international students and their families, not only to introduce them to Blue Ridge School, but also to ensure that their experience on campus has lived up to the promise.
Krystle began her tenure at Blue Ridge in 2011 as a Spanish teacher and director of social events. Five years later she left teaching to join the administration as director of parent relations and international admissions. She is responsible for much of the recent diversification of international enrollment at BRS, thanks in part to the relationships she has developed with educational consultants around the world.
Associate Headmaster for External Affairs Franklin Daniels has worked with Krystle for many years. He says, “While there are many things we can thank Krystle for, two stand out in my mind. First, Krystle has travelled the world for Blue Ridge, helping introduce our school to countless families in more than 25 countries. The impact of this role alone is immense. Equally extraordinary, however, is her work as our Parent Liaison. She has been a stalwart partner to hundreds of families, helping them navigate the sometimes tricky, often emotional role of boarding school parent. Krystle has literally defined this role for Blue Ridge and has set the bar for all who will follow.”
In her role as director of parent relations, Krystle has aided parents as they navigate the complexities of preparing their son for success at boarding school. She has coordinated everything from international travel plans and doctor visits to dry cleaning and haircuts. For many parents she is the first person they call at Blue Ridge School to ask a question or to seek an opinion.
“To me, my husband, and our two BRS boys, Krystle Gee is Blue Ridge,” says Sherry Sinor, president of the Parent Association. “Krystle was the first person we met when we were considering Blue Ridge and she personally took us on our first tour of the school. Krystle was also on the call when our oldest son was interviewed and accepted. Since that time, Krystle has been a staple in our lives and has been there for every need, question, laugh, and concern that we have ever had. I have been the head of the Parent Association for three years now and have had the pleasure to work with Krystle on a professional basis as well as a parent. I have learned over the last three years that Krystle is a truly amazing person from both perspectives. But most importantly, I now have the privilege of calling Krystle one of my dear friends. Blue Ridge will persevere but will never be quite the same without her. She has been a rock in good times and bad for all of us over the years and she will be missed beyond measure. We want to wish Krystle all of our best and I personally am excited to continue to grow our friendship.”
After ten years and countless memories at Blue Ridge, Krystle says she counts the students and families she has met as dear friends. “I have seen so many BRS students grow from boys into talented, compassionate, smart, driven young men. I couldn’t be prouder to have been a part of their lives and I look forward to staying in touch with all of them. We say that Blue Ridge is a home-away-from-home for its students and I hope the students, their parents, and my colleagues on campus and around the world will always consider me a part of their families.”
Blue Ridge School is conducting a nationwide search for Krystle’s successor as director of parent relations and international admissions. Interested parties should contact Associate Dean for External Affairs Franklin Daniels P’23 at fdaniels@blueridgeschool.com.
