World renowned soloist Anna Miernik will perform at Blue Ridge School on Friday, March 17, at 7PM in Gibson Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert is part of the “Chopin in Virginia” series which is in its thirteenth season.
The concert’s sponsors include the Embassy of the Repulic of Poland, Chopin Council of Virginia, Premier Virginia Properties, Yamaha Artists, Drs. Jacek and Barbara Paszkowiak, Mr. and Mr.s John Sponski, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fithian, Lee Wouters and Ms. Carla Baer.
Anna Miernik is an accomplished soloist and chamber musician who has already performed on five continents in 23 countries and has won several international and national prizes.
Anna received her honor’s degree from the Academy of Music in Kraków, Poland, in 2013, after completing her studies in professor Andrzej Pikul’s piano class. She has also studied with professor Sławomir Zubrzycki (constructor of viola organista). She participated in master classes run by eminent teachers such as Paul Badura-Skoda and Dina Yoffe.
Her first album was released in 2014 and includes sonatas by J. Brahms and C. Franck. The idea for this CD originated with Patrycja Piekutowska, world-renowned violinist, who invited Anna to join her in the project.
Since her repertoire includes the works of more than twenty Polish composers (including Chopin, Lutosławski, Szymanowski), Anna regularly adds their compositions to the programs of her concerts to promote Polish composers abroad.
In recognition of her artistic and scholarly accomplishments Anna Miernik has been awarded numerous scholarships. Her recordings have been broadcast by various media and reviews were published in international newspapers.
