Blue Ridge School Lacrosse Program Looks To Build Momentum After Winning First State Title
Barons take State Championship in 2024
About Blue Ridge Lacrosse
BRS LAX takes pride in implementing a sophisticated hybrid-style of play. We emphasize lightning quick transitions. Coach Moss’s philosophy “Play Fast” means to make the transition between defense and offense quick and aggressive. Because we study and practice the ability to push transitions, we know how to limit transition from the opposing team. We want to own possession time, play selfless offense and stingy whole-team defense.
We place great value on our team culture: on the field, on campus and in the community.
Our locker room culture is second to none. We hold each other accountable in all that we do and strive to uphold the BRS mission within the lacrosse program. Philosophically, we believe in sending our players off into the world as more developed athletes and more developed young men.
Living on campus with the boys, we are able hold them to a high standard, encouraging and enabling them to embody the principles and values that Blue Ridge School is proud to uphold.

Meet the Coaches
Coach DOnny Moss
Coach Moss is the newest member of the coaching staff at Blue Ridge School. A graduate of Adelphi University and Elmira College, Moss was one of the top players in the nation and was recognized as a 1st Team All-American and National Defensive Player of the Year. In 2009, he was the 46th pick in the MLL Draft by the Long Island Lizards. Along with a professional career that lasted 13 seasons, Coach Moss played for Team USA in the 2013 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. After a great career as a player, he spent 7 years on the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) coaching staff, playing a crucial role on one of the best NCAA division 3 teams in the country. Over that stretch, Coach Moss helped develop 28 All-Americans and 2 National Player of the Years. RIT also won back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2021 and 2022.
Coach has already hit the ground running with the program at BRS, leading the team to their first ever state championship in his very first year at the helm. He is excited to teach players the finer points of the game, while instilling a confidence that is crucial to their continued growth on the field and beyond.
Coach Cassius Christie
Coach Cassius serves as the program’s assistant coach/defensive coordinator, and is the only person in his family to ever play the medicine game. After graduating from Valley Forge Military Academy, he continued his playing career at Cabrini University — graduating in 2019 as a National Champion. While there he earned All-Conference 2nd Team, 2x Conference Champion, and 3x Conference All-Academic Team.
Before Blue Ridge he was the varsity defensive coordinator for his local high school in New Jersey for 4 years, as well as a head and positional coach for 7 years with two different club lacrosse programs.
Coach Cassius brings a vast IQ for the game, and values how lacrosse impacts lives on and off the field. “This game has brought me to highs and lows, but the love and respect I have towards this sport is something that will always remain consistent.”
